Forgotten America: Unknown

It was this man’s birthday when I met him in Gary, IN.  He was a friend of Robert’s and it was unfortunate that for his birthday he had a very somber feel to him.  Unfortunately I was not able to get his name but he was very nice and very curious what two photographers were doing in such a terrible place.

Robert ended up offering him something to drink right there on the street and he seemed to cheer up a bit, and later said “We may not have much money, but we still know how to enjoy ourselves with what little we have”.  This was another moment in that day that so many American’s take so much for granted and need to enjoy the simple things in life.  This man lived in a place Forgotten by America.
